Keystone implementation report
1. Outcomes of the implementation: student learning outcomes
and technical procedure outcomes
The students were able to understand the lesson of sequencing of
events. They also learned how to create a book using the UDL book builder site.
Each student worked very nicely together with their group. At first, I had to
show and guide the students what is expected of them, and then they got the
hang of it.
2. Adjustments you had made to accommodate students with
special needs
There weren’t any special
needs students in the class. The weaker students were paired with a stronger
student. The teacher assistant helped out the struggling students to create
their book.
3. Adjustments you had made for the effectiveness of classroom
management
I had to
switch around some groups because they were distracting other students, and
some groups were not working out.
4. Questions asked by the students
The questions that were
asked by the students was basically about the technology aspect of the lesson. How
to use the UDL book builder?
5. Problems students had encountered during the implementation
process
It was hard for students to
figure out to use the internet and the internet was a bit slow.
6. the decision(s) you had to make on the spot to make the
implementation easier and smooth
I saw that students were
having a hard time organizing their events, so I told them to organize their
ideas that they were going to include on each page in an organizer. When
students were working on their books I told them to keep on going back and
seeing what they did to see if their story made sense, and check for any
spelling mistakes.
7. Feedback from the student
The students
really enjoyed the lesson, and they got to learn so much because of the
technology aspect. They were so motivated and engaged in the learning. They
felt so accomplished from their book that they told me that they showed it off
to their friends and family. They kept asking, and saying that they want to
make another book, because it was so much fun!
8. Time Frame (was there enough time as you planned for)
It did take a bit longer
than I expected and planned because of the technology aspect and the internet
was a bit slow.
9. Things you have learned from the implementation including
proposed changes for future lessons?
I would give students a
chance to learn the technology before they start using it. I would also divide
the lesson into 3-4 lessons, sequence of events, creating the book, revise and editing,
and presenting the book.
This lesson was a great
lesson which increased student’s participation, motivation, and confidence.
