Week 2-2 New Literacies Definition and Components

·         The teacher that I interviewed does not use technology to enhance her instruction, she does sometimes show them a video but that doesn’t happen very often. However, she does use many visual aids and hands on activities to engage and motivate her students while learning.
·         A way that I would say to change the teacher’s instruction to include technology would be to include an interactive white board- smart board, so the teacher can show the class different videos, and pictures in big so students can visualize what they are learning, and she can have access to many different resources. A smart board is a great tool to be used in the classroom and students really enjoy to learn with it. The teacher should also use some iPad where students can play different games to strengthen their literacy skills.
·         The teacher would need to have professional development and training on how to use smartboard, so she won’t get overwhelmed when using it, this also goes the same for the use of the Ipads. The teacher would also need to get permission from the school if she can bring in technology since they don’t really allow and are limited to technology.
·         An idea for grouping students that they have equal access to technology would be that there would be 2-3 computers, and when they have center time the teacher would make sure that the students get a chance to use it, and some students can be doing quiet work at that time.
